THE BIG IDEA

The creation of a public outdoor recreation site that does not duplicate but extends what is avalable at Bower Park, with outdoor activities such as an 18 hole disc golf course, horseshoe pits, petanque terrain, skateboard park, Ninja Warrior training course and as the center piece—a 4 lane outdoor lap pool, a children's splash pool, locker rooms, an indoor therapy pool, a covered multi-use pavilion and bathrooms.

Buildings will be “green built” and plans include solar energy for heating the pool and providing electricity with regular PG&E back-up. Water will be collected from the roof of the locker room building and stored on the site. The well will be developed as part of the water system.

The Big Idea will be built in phases. In 2018 we began creating the 18 hole disc golf course and Pétanque terrain. They join the horseshoe pits and bike/hike trails, which need to be re-built after all the tree work that has been done. After utilities and a road are installed, the multi-use pavilion and picnic area with restrooms will be built. The Final phase will include the lap pool, splash pool, and therapy pool. If you would like to see all of the plans please call or email one of the co-chairs, Beverly Flynn 707-884-4224 bflynn@mcn.org and Christina Chapman 707-884-9144 cchapman@mcn.org or our architect, Matthias Oppliger 707-684-0463 mo.arch@mcn.org.
